Our Vision is to Erase the Lines of Separation that Isolate Those in the Commercial Sex Industry. Just because we haven’t been in the commercial sex industry doesn’t mean we can’t walk alongside those who have, offering compassion, care, and connection. Unfortunately, the commercial sex industry is the place where people are most likely to be trafficked in the US and it is very present in South Central PA. There are currently over 130 open human trafficking cases in Dauphin County alone.

So how does She’s Somebody’s Daughter work on this problem? Through 3 ways:
Raising Awareness
Outreach Building
Community

We RAISE AWARENESS through our simulation “Take a Walk in Her Shoes,” developed with our input by a Lancaster Bible College class, where you get to experience what it would be like to be a young girl, developing a romantic relationship with a guy who later changes up your relationship and begins to exploit you. We work on prevention, helping youth understand their vulnerabilities and how traffickers prey on these through a process called grooming. Most often, people are pulled into trafficking gradually by predators who begin a relationship with them either online or in person, not by kidnapping. And we are beginning a training based on the book Boundaries to help people understand how to develop and maintain appropriate relationship boundaries.

We REACH OUT online through a software called Freedom Signal, that sends a message to anyone advertising on escort sites in our geographical area of WHO we are and WHAT we have to offer. We go to Homeless Encampments, a Local Prison, Massage Businesses, Drug & Alcohol Addiction Recovery Centers and local Motels to offer free necessities and connection to various services.

And we BUILD COMMUNITY doing everything from therapeutic art through a local studio to a program called “Ending the Game,” which helps women who’ve been exploited understand relational trauma bonding and help protect them from future exploitation. Sometimes Building Community just looks like going to a doctor’s appointment or sitting at the DMV with a woman, just like any good friend would do. We offer an online Bible Study for women who want to learn more about God’s plan for their lives and at Christmas time, women can come choose new toys donated by a local church for women to provide a nice Christmas for their children.

So how can YOU help us? Please Pray for those we serve and us as we go out to serve. And we are always in need of donations of the items we give out during our Outreaches: Laundry pods, Small Snacks, Microwavable meals & Small toiletries.
If you donate to thrift shops, you can donate gently used items to Community Aid for our benefit – just give them our name or our partner number – 50108. And of course, you can partner with us financially – monthly gifts are a big help in allowing us to budget well but we certainly appreciate any gift!
Thank you all for being part of the solution to human trafficking!
