Baptism

Baptism allows you to publicly identify with Jesus through a one-time act of obedience. In baptism, you identify with his death and resurrection. This act symbolizes the end of your old life of living to please yourself (death) and the gift of a new life to live to please Christ (resurrection). We believe the best method for baptism to convey this message comes through immersion in water. This method allows others to see an image of what happens to a person once you’ve placed your trust in Christ. It also aligns with the practice of baptism as seen in the New Testament.

However, baptism does not repair your relationship with God or remove your sins. Forgiveness and reconciliation only come through your repentance from sins and faith in Jesus.

The next Adult Baptism Class is May 5th, at 9 AM in the CRC.

What is water baptism?

Water baptism is the immersion of a person in water, often with other followers of Jesus serving as witnesses.

What is the purpose of water baptism?

Water baptism allows you to publicly identify with Jesus through a one-time act of obedience. In baptism, you identify with his death and resurrection. This act symbolizes the end of your old life of living to please yourself (death) and the gift of a new life of living to please God (resurrection). However, baptism does not repair your relationship with God or remove your sins. Forgiveness and reconciliation only come through repentance from your sins and faith in Jesus.

How do I know if I am ready for water baptism?

Do you believe the gospel message about Jesus? Has God changed your thoughts and attitudes toward Jesus? Do you realize you need him to forgive you for your sin and you need his help to live as God wants?

How old do I have to be?

Living Water baptizes those who are at least 12 years old that believe the gospel message and profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Are you between 12 to 17 years old?

If you are a student between the ages of 12 to 17, please ask your parents for their consent before beginning the baptism process. We also encourage students with unbelieving parents to seek consent from their parents.

We are excited to be a part of helping you to obey Jesus through baptism. Our desire is to shepherd you through a time of prayerful reflection and understanding about what God is doing in your life. We want to be fully prepared for your baptism.  If you are ready to obey Jesus through water baptism, register for our next class.
